DIY FOLDED CLUTCH TUTORIAL

Hi everyone! On my last post I shared some photos from a clutch I made and got a few requests to do a tutorial for it. With some remnants I picked up at Joann fabrics here's how it's done....

1. Supplies needed are fabric, lining, medium/heavy fusible interfacing, leather, metal snaps, thread, ruler, scissors, chalk, pen and pins.
2. Cut your fabric, lining and fusible interfacing 21"x12" (length x width) and the leather 6"x3". Note: Iron the fusible interfacing on the wrong side of the fabric for a more sturdy clutch.

3. Place fabric on fold, find the center and measure up 5" for the bottom snap and 8" for the top snap.
4. Using the scissors cut a very tiny slit on either side of the mark and insert the snap. Repeat no.4 for the top snap also. Nos. 5 and 6 shows how to secure the snap.

7. Take your leather pieces and cut into any shape you desire, I did semicircle/arch. Unfold fabric, find center lengthwise and stitch leather pieces on either side.
8.To attach zipper place fabric right side up, zipper right side down and lining right side down.
9. Pin to hold and stitch together shown in no. 10

11. Repeat the stitch process for the other side of the zipper and the pieces should be laid flat as shown below. For this clutch I used a longer zipper due to preference and availability but one measuring the width of clutch can be used.
12. Place both fabric and lining on fold, right sides facing each other and stitch lengthwise as shown.
13. When stitching together stop 5" short on one side to allow you to turn your clutch inside out.
14. After turning it out stitch the opening shut. I used gold thread in the pic to show how it's done.
NOTE: Let the end of the zipper stick out that when you stitch lengthwise it will be tucked between the fabric and lining.

15. Tuck in the lining and you can use an iron on low heat to iron out and creases making sure not to touch the leather. 16,17,18 shows the finished pics of the clutch.

Now it's time to enjoy your new clutch! It's perfect for going out, your makeup and storing your iPad/tablet. Hope you all enjoyed this tutorial.

DIY FOLDED CLUTCH

Hi everyone!  It's been a while since I've posted anything and with 3 kids you just find the time whenever you can. I'm sure some of you can totally relate! Today I'm sharing pics from a DIY I did last weekend,  a beautiful folded clutch I was inspired to make after spotting the fabric at Joanns recently. In the next week or two I'll share the tutorial on how it's made.

BLUE TAFFETA

Hello everyone,

Hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend and as we enter into the 2nd week of Ramadan may all our prayers and fasting be accepted inshallah (God willing)! For this next DIY I used a cobalt blue taffeta fabric I had in my stash for quite a while. The skirt was self drafted and took no more than 30 minutes to complete. Although Taffeta can be quite wrinkly at times, it was perfect for such a simple pattern to be worn at any formal occasion.

INSPIRATION!

Meet my daughter, Maryam Aliyah-Zahra Amin! She is MAZA and the inspiration that got me starting this blog. At only 4 years she's quite a lil fashionista and wardrobe consultant. She inspires me to follow my dreams and put my best foot forward. I recently made her a black tulle skirt (tutorial coming soon) and had some photo shoot fun too...

WOW, I'VE DONE IT!

As I begin in the the name of Almighty God, I welcome you to my new blog. I've been wanting to do this for a long time but kept postponing/procrastinating due to fear basically. Today I've decided to kick fear in the butt and turn my I CAN'T to I CAN! I've been sewing/diy-ing for a long time and instead of keeping it private, I've made it public where I can share my ideas and inspirations with everyone. It's been such a roller coaster of emotions putting it all together but in the end I'm happy. I've also decided to take lots of pictures, so bear with me (you experts) for the large amount of content I may have. Keep checking in as I will add content weekly and sometimes several times a week. Thank you and sew it begins....
